NOTES

Hi-res art.

Art development.

The Lawless Times is an age that came long before the Prime Dynasty: an age of savage battles, demented tyrants, mad cyber-alchemists. An age of Titans and Monsters.
In that age, the first Gestalts were created, by splitting the Sparks of the Titans in many parts.

Raiden was one of them. This is the model sheet for his future appearance in a new The Evil That Mechs Do story called "Out Of The Myth".

(Raiden will not sport an alliance symbol in the actual story, as they did not exist yet9.

The Lawless Times took place in both our fanfiction universes, Seeds of Deception and The Lost Seasons: details may vary according to the continuity, but the concept does not change.

Oh the Trainbots... the team that had individual names that never got used in any episode... not that Headmaster was big in giving personality to gestalt component, they invariably used them to tackle other combiners with no rhyme or reason just too look cool.

Man Headmasters was a mess...

It was a fun mess but there's no denying it had it's own brand of crazy nonsense.

Were only the sparks of the Titans splitted or their bodies, too?

No one knows what happened of their original bodies: only the fate of their Sparks is known (for now).

So the bodies have been built for them specifically with the intention to be seperable?

The new bodies, you mean, right?
Yes, an experiment of... you will see, hopefully!

It's my guess that, after the Spark was split, separate bodies were created to house them; with the intention that they would later combine into a gestalt form resembling the Titans. IE: a monstrocity capable of bringing to bear enough power to level a city-state, like the Titans, yet still capable of one-on-one battles as a team against regular-sized opponents, like the rest of the populace. So the gestalts were created to fulfill that purpose.

I'm sure Jhiaxis didn't miss the irony of the situation, and it's resemblance to the old saying "Till all are One", either.

Even before that, though, there were experiments to give themselves more than one alt-mode. Not sure if Jhiaxis was behind that as well, or that was just a separate project (he seemed to have his hands in a lot of stuff like that, so I'm not sure).

On the other hand, Jhiaxus isn't the only unconventional "scientist" the TFs have.

That's true. I know Shockwave has had his share of 'moments', but he still isn't near Jhiaxis level of crazy. Shockwave is/was a slave to logic, and though he would do anything to obtain it, he still had his limits.
