There is more than one Arena, of course. They are spread in different Citistates. One is located in the bowels of Yetron, as seen in SoD: Jetfire/Grimlock.
The Devron Pavillon ring is not the same shown in The War Within (vol.1) #0.
Among the nameless mechs of the crowd, Iohannes and Tomoko hid some G1 references: Springer, Soundwave, and Ironhide, for instance.
The Gladiator's opponents in panel 2 and 3 are Blitzwing and Astrotrain. More about their ever-changing look in the Multiple Bodyframes tech file.
NEXT: where does Trannis find the resources to fuel his secret empire? Which other segments of the Cybertronian society did side with him? Industry, army, communications, science, finance, politics: are they all compromised?
Awesome! Davvero un interessante scorcio sul personaggio di Trannis. Di cui mi piace tantissimo la genesi e... beh, quello che immagino sia destinato a diventare.i (e con questo cercherò di dimenticare quelle altre origini... anzi, già fatto! XD)
Am I the only one that sees a very strong resemblance to WW Megatron? That's what this story looks to be shaping up like, with Trannis actually being Megatron (or will become him eventually, after the protoform inside the suspiciously megatron-shaped Gladiator armor comes to full fruition).
Good. I'm glad my Transformer-sense hasn't dulled that much. x3 This is an interesting take on his back-story, though. If I recall correctly, he was supposed to be a Guardian, and was charged with guarding something (forgot exactly what, though). He wanted more power, and didn't want to go through the proper channels to get it. That, and he never agreed with those in power, anyway. So he formed his own small faction, which slowly grew larger as it 'absorbed' all those mechs that felt lost, power-less, or simply wanted more power for themselves; and thought Megatron could give it to them.
Eventually they either grew large enough to challenge those in power, or they were found out, but they ended up starting a war.
Which is, of course, not what the G1 story was either. In that one, they all rebelled against their Quintesson masters, eventually winning their freedom. But Megatron took it a step further, he wanted to not only rule Cybertron, but to conquer all the worlds. The Autobots rose up to stop him, and thus began the war. At least, that's the way I remember it from the cartoon.

BRILLIANT!
Those poor triplechangers are always destined to be beaten up
