Venom is an Insecticon from the Tellesuri Expanse, which started a complicated plan to exact vengeance on the traitors of his species: Short Story: Secret Shame.

With his comrades, he joined Ratbat's Ultracons, a branch of the dawning Decepicon army.

For reasons still unknown, he gave up his crusade against the traitors (Bombshell's group) and became an Injecticon like them. In this new form, he can be briefly seen in The War Within, vol. 1 and The War Within: The Dark Ages.
