Scattershot possesses an in-between mode which is not classified as a third alt mode, or at least that's the opinion of the Dreamwave "More Than Meets The Eye" profile book.
This mode is rarely featured in Transformers fiction, but it can come in handy.
The superconductive metal theory reminds us that Scattershot is a scientist first and foremost (in real life though, you usually need to freeze molecules in order to obtain superconductive materials).
